Within my Heart...

This is the poem that I wrote and placed in the front of the year book that I made for my first grade class this year. Just a few thoughts while browsing the wonderful memories of the year. It was an exceptional year!

Within My Heart...

Browsing memories from months past
I find myself a bit sad,
 with laughter and a smile
within the year we’ve made so many memories
memories that will last
teaching is my passion,
and I have my own unique style.

The day that Brice had surgery on his heart
we prayed together for his safety
his return and for him…a brand new start.
Oh, those birthday parties
we’ll never forget
cupcakes by the dozens
and the pumpkins…
how creative you displayed your talents
expectations, goals…more than met.

The teeth…too many pulled to recall
smiles with empty spaces
and who could forget minutes spent on “the wall”
I’ll never forget your smiling and a few sad faces.
The writing, spelling, social studies, science, and math
some enjoyed…others grumbled and complained
in the end it paid off
for we are ready to meet the future
another year of learning…while on this journey  this academic path!

This is not goodbye…
but I’ll see you next year
when you stop by to say hello, how are you, or just to say hi…
The old school was great, as were the movies,
PRIDE, green eggs and ham, making play dough,
and all those stories you loved to hear…

I’ll always remember the year 2007-2008
a year of fun, learning, and friendships…
a year of laughter, tears, and joy…
a year of sharing
time together and time apart
a year that has passed quickly
one I’ll always cherish within my memories
and inside my heart…

What a wonderful, heartfelt gift to your lucky students!

Joyce, such a sweet write from the heart. It is obvious that this class of students captured your heart big time. They may move on but I bet many will not forget Mrs. Bowling, a teacher who just loved to teach. Another bunch will soon fill your class, new challenges, laughter, tears and fun and they too will leave you with more beautiful memories. A great write!

Smiles,
Dorothy

Joyce another golden penning.
"Within my Heart" was a joy to read as you reflected upon the memories, I too remember when Brice had that operation. I know you just want to hug all those little ones up and yet you have to let them go as the butterflies they really are.

Wishing you the best,
~Gwendolyn

This poem is wonderful, Joyce. What a memorable write--recapping the things that have happened throughout the year.

You know, I still remember the end of last year for you and that little one room school house you and your students visited. I recall how busy you were getting report cards done, cum folders, etc. And now, here it is another "end of the year"

You take me back in time when I read your writings about your job, school, and the students. I really enjoyed this write.

You are the teacher that many of us
Always wished we had
And your kids are very luck to have you!
I only wish there where more like you
Then maybe the number of dropouts
would decreased and kids would have
A better chance for a wonderful future!!
My favor is
Smiles with empty spaces that were filled by their teacher's love.
A true statement your love for those kids
show through each line!!!
Congratulations you should be very proud of yourself
You have made a difference in this children's lives!!

Joyce, what an inspiring uplifting poem about the love for your students & how much you enjoyed having them in your class. It sounds like you all had a marvelous time. You captured a picture of a classroom of interested students & a teacher so willing to give of herself to her students. I'd say this is great!
