This winter freeze blanketing our nation is taking its toll on animals too!
Frozen in Place....
Outside is dark no moonlight tonight,
no sparkle, no twinkle not even a light.
Rabbits, squirrels, birds safely tucked away,
asleep in their nests, tomorrow is a new day.
Ground frozen in place, temperature is chilling,
even birds will not fly, no they are not willing.
Waiting for warmth, each bides their time,
cuddling, preening, wishing for sunshine.
No roses to look at, no lilacs to smell,
old man winter has finally cast his spell.
Grass, bushes, trees, leaves on the ground,
have all become brittle, crunch without sound.
Ice crystals have formed, a new day begins,
the animals will just have to bear it and grin.
The rabbits are hungry, they hop all around,
look, carrots someone placed on the ground.
Squirrels try climbing up and down trees,
they are looking for berries and nuts you see.
Birds fly around looking for seed,
a bird feeder is full, good now they can feed.
Birds and squirrels scamper in the trees high,
rabbits have underground boroughs, how sly.
Each settle down, bellies full of food,
at least it has helped put them in a better mood.

|Loved it! Your imagery is great, I could actually see the place that is frozen in place...sure isn't here in Ky. We've only had about a weeks worth of winter here! Enjoyed, a great write!

|Winter..."Frozen in Place", depicting the nature of it all and how even in the midst of it, if we search hard enough, life still stirs...
Very well done Karen~
