          Morning walk......

Waking to a brand new day,
sun shining bright, blue skies above.
Hot and sultry, yet a calm breeze,
under the pear tree sat a half dozen dove.

Patiently waiting for seeds to drop,
out of the feeders and down to the ground.
Smart enough to remain in the shade,
bobbling and wobbling all around.

Watching, observing all the outdoor fun,
kitties firmly mounted on their window seat.
Puppies take turns jumping up and down,
where is the coffee and something to eat.

Sweet smelling flowers enticed humming birds,
and for the kitties, was a special treat.
Children already were playing on swings,
others challenging for a see-saw seat.

A few folks sat on lawn chairs outside,
sipping their coffee, with donuts on the side.
Mornings are quiet, peaceful and calm,
few children were getting ready to test the slide.

Puppies commence with their yappy serenade,
waiting impatiently for their morning walk.
Stopped by to visit with a few horses,
this was not their delight, they began to balk.

Slowly we meandered down by the lake,
puppies did a wonderful job walking me.
They would not wait, into the water they went,
then froze, face to face with a tortoise times three.

Loud and shrill with their high pitched yelp,
kicking and splashing trying to get out.
Soaking wet, climbing up my legs,
all because a few tortoise were about.

People came running, crowds were forming,
everyone thought maybe a child fell in.
There I stood with two wet pups in my arms,
soaked to the gills with an embarrassing grin.

Slowly turned, heading back to the RV,
said to my girls, "This day is now over!"
It was our last day, time to head home,
where they could play quietly in backyard clover.

:))... puppies will be... puppies!!! Enjoyed this romp, Karen. My own retriever will not go in the sea herself but delights to force me in whenever she can... I'm entirely bullied but love it. It's so delightful when they exhibit such human traits as joy, teasing, curiousness... trouble-making!!! :)) Back to a backyard of clover don't sound too bad, though... Now they can dream of just how BIG AND BRAVE they both were! Delightful, thank you. Kate xx
