Gardenias.....
Spring has arrived, flowers in bloom,
a myriad of color blankets this land.
Lilacs, honeysuckle, roses and carnations,
subtle fragrances bring smiles so grand.
Moms nurture and heal the hurt,
encourage, teach, lead the way.
Always there to offer hugs, wipe tears,
patiently listening as we have our say.
Gardenias were your favorite flower,
and you received many over the years.
A remembrance of life with your father,
soothing your heartache, soothing your tears.
Your father died when you were so young,
leaving you to face a future on your own.
It took its toll and shaped your life,
which you took with you even when grown.
Celebrations begin to honor matriarchs,
still feeling the warmth you so freely gave.
Caring and nurturing as you did so well,
has not been forgotten, in memory to save.
Our time together was intermittent at best,
yet each precious moment its own treasure.
Hearing your laughter, seeing you smile,
warmth in your heart always brought pleasure.
Never had a chance to be mother and daughter,
far too many obstacles always getting in the way.
Praying for God to keep you happy and safe,
with the knowledge that I love you every day.
Many years passed by and letters returned,
but always knowing your loving light.
God's intervention helped to keep the faith,
while walking the walk and fighting the fight.
There was so much we tried to say,
but time was short and God called you away.
No more in pain, standing tall once again,
praying that you are now happy this day.
Spring has arrived, flowers in bloom,
a myriad of color blankets this land.
Lilacs, honeysuckle, roses and carnations,
subtle fragrances bring smiles so grand.
Happy Mother's Day!
May God bless all.....
