         Spiritual gratitude.....

Heart and soul woven with love,
always there, willing to give.
Inspiration reaching down from above,
how do we go on, how do we live.

Examining the everlasting ocean of eternity,
as it rhythmically changes from day to night.
Walking in footsteps of all who came before,
surrounded by darkness and penetrating light.

What is it we see with our minds eye,
when searching the heavens for a sign?
Do we see the legitimacy etched in prophecy,
or do we hold the power to rearrange design?

Walking the path of the straight and narrow,
will at times present obstacles unseen, seen.
Do we face that which is ineffaceable,
or retreat to a comfort as has always been.

Hearing your utterance filled with wisdom,
yet never hearing the sound of your voice.
Here you are the Patriarch to all,
offering compassion and much needed choice.

Life here on earth is a mere stepping-stone,
but how we live is what serves you best.
Keeping faith through trials and tribulations,
learning the ways of passing your test.

Spiritual gratitude is a never-ending offering,
as forgiveness in your arms equals deliverance.
The burdens encompassing internal desires,
lead one to the gates of your holy reverence.

Along this journey, a path long ago laid,
friends and family will come and go.
It is you who are the one staple in life,
spiritual wisdom like the ocean's flow.

A plush Eden sometimes coats the truth,
with its effervescent fragrance of renewal.
Causing a pause and breathless silence,
in recognition of the heart of this jewel.

Karen, confidence of conviction and perception are the roots of "spiritual gratitude". You paint that logic across the breadth of your poem. Wisdom flows deep and conviction strong within your soul my dear friend. Love and peace o you. Jon Michael

This is like a never-failing stream, a still water running deep within you, Karen. I can feel it's depth and expanding breadth as it searches out its soul's sea. I love the exact form you have chosen for this: it speaks of assurance and resolve and a confident assertion that "all is and will be well". Very accomplished writing. xx

A questioning write with intellectual depth that has the fragrance of wildflowers. You strip away, Karen, all that is nonmeaningful to effectively expose what is crucial. Excellent!

"Oh la paloma blanca, I'm just a bird in the sky, and over the mountains I fly 'cause no one can take my freedom away." Paloma Blanca (White Dove) by the George Baker Selection, WB 8115, 1975. This poem reminds me of that song as we fly up to the sky to be embraced by Him that created us.

Thank you so much Karen for sharing this message of truth and faith.
