            Sand, dirt, and gravel.....

Trees budding delicate tiny white flowers,
temperature rising for plenty of warm air.
Better wake up, get dressed, get going,
a beautiful day, with friends to share.

Climb into the car and of course buckle up,
passing all the horses, goats, ducks, and cows.
Half hour ride down sand, dirt, and gravel,
today is the day for pretty ribbons and bows.

Having lots of trouble trying to sit still,
wondering how much longer before we arrive.
Special perfume made with Lilacs and Jasmine,
picked from the field where they grow and thrive.

A well-done manicure with a coat of polish,
anticipating nails cut, buffed, and shined.
Rare opportunity to relax and bathe,
oh, but alas, everything is always timed.

Bubbles of color to distract and excite,
friendly happy people stand at the side.
Slippery bath oils with a hint of fragrance,
all this attention taken in stride.

Clippers and scissors sharpened and ready,
a snip to the eyebrows and cream for the ears.
Careful on the legs, still have little tiny knots,
curly hair bunches, sometimes promoting tears.

Finally, one last dip in the color of bubbles,
wrapped in a towel, waiting for the brush.
Moving faster, other customers are waiting,
guess time must be up, everyone in a rush.

Need some help putting my spring dress on,
sitting still and proper for the last minute prissy.
Saying good-bye to all the wonderful friends,
now it is time to give dad and mom a big kissy.

Stubby tails waving like a flags in the wind,
panting so hard our hanging tongues are dry.
A day at the Pet Spa is always such fun,
now can we go play with our favorite mud pie.

This poem is so cute Karen! I have a cat and she gets a spa day every six months. The lion cut and bows and nails painted. She stares at herself in the mirror and prances around like a princess. Love the doggy jackets! Take care, and god bless! chessly

Very clever. Phew, I was concerned about the hairy bits, a delightful, fun write. Our Labby would run out and roll in fox mess after a bath.

I always wonder what goes through their minds whenever we put them through some ritual like a day at the spa or salon when all they want to do is please us and then go outside and romp. Excellent write.

Now i suspect if I took our two cats to the pet spa, they wouldn't find the experience anywghere near as positive-nor would I......

You took me on their spa experience and it was a delightful journey Karen. My grand children's, two friends, Lily and Molly would like a day at the spa also. You brought me the warmth of Spring and the love for your pets to enjoy. I am very appreciative of your generous gift of sharing. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

I'm saving this kind of treatment for me when I get my kids wed, I reckon, Karen! Adorable journalling... my perfectly snow white retriever shines in the sun when just brushed daily... but then loves nothing better than a good roll in the field manure of whatever kind she can find! Country life is good that way! Keep that washing machine on! :)) xx

An enjoyable moment, and it's funny how you tried to guess their perception of the experience. It sounds like a lot of fun.
