Just a playful exercise using Elizabeth Barrett Browning's classic poem.

How Do I Loathe Thee (Challenge from foggyguzman)

To Elizabeth Barrett Browning (An Apology)

How do I loathe thee? Let me shout for days.
I loathe thee to the height and left and right
The sky can stretch, while reaching for sun bright
For all the speeding cars a dog might chase.
I loathe thee beyond the luminous rays
Of blistering sun. As 7-Up loathes Sprite.
I loathe thee surely as day turns to night.
I loathe thee truly as dark as night stays.
I loathe thee with such pure heartfelt disdain.
The fire of hell is cool when it's compared
To the searing, scalding and horrid pain
I would soon inflict if I only dared.
A thousand lashes from Singapore's cane

Wit wonderful and stimulating... "How Do I Loathe Thee" shines.

Parody is a good way to practice poetic composition.

I salute You, Poet.

this made me smile and I think Elizabeth Barrett Browning would have too, as I believe she was a good sport and would not mind a parody of this sort of perfectedness.

LOL this rocks Chuck, I think Ms. Browning would forgive you and possibly even smile.

Now, that is really good writing. I enjoyed every line. Caught me in a bad mood, I suppose. LOL! Good rhythm and rhyme, nice pace, and great topic.
