“Draw the curtains pull down the blinds thrice-bolt the door hide all signs of life

 numb all feeling obliterate heart destroy and deny until  all hope has passed draw from experience the sharpest of blades eviscerate passion leave death and decay seek want and desire and put out their flame and cover your conscience with sorrow and shame your worm-ridden conscience with sorrow and shame it may help to deny that you still feel the pain


Take your heart wracked with hurt for a walk in the park there enter the realms of absolute dark seek no glimmer of hope nor chance of relief complete self denial forget self belief

destroy all expectation of a happy end if there’s any hope left go through sequence again


I’m waiting one moment before I depart there’s a red pool of passion from the wound in my heart it’s no use denying there’s nothing I can do despite all these years to stop loving you”.

The switch from second person to first person by the final verse reveals that the denial has its roots in personal pain and regret. Yet by the final line, redemption in the form of your love for the most important person(s) in your life rises to the fore. In so doing,reminds you of its triumphant potency in the face of adversity.
From behind the drawn curtains I personaly tend to be brutaly frank with myself, cruel even, anything, however painful it is, to get me to listen to my conscience rather than my hedonistic instincts - bastards that they are.
