You are a hideous machine
a motionless beast
that mocks the graceful beauty of a bird.
Gaping mouth devours fresh prey
breathing life into your ribcage.

You are a hideous machine
true - and yet,
each captured heart and pulse vibrates,
gaze fixed in awe
as you soar into the heavens.
