Missing Ingredients
by Lark Pogue

What could be worse than spending your last hours of existence in a mind full of regrets and guilt over your life exploits? Only one thing—being the victim of those deeds..

Over rocks in darkness I stumble

A prayer for someone who has had it rough in life, and before his last breath, turns back to God. It takes the symbolic form of the vessels used for bread and wine in church, an allusion to the last supper.....

Over rocks in darkness I stumble

Over rocks in darkness I stumble

To these mountains returning

With a deep heart weeping

To say these words again:

When like ravages of thunders

My life bangs against the rocks

Shattered limbs tearing asunder

In a world devastated

Devoid of solace

Dear God

Am still

The wonder

You delicately made

In your divine semblance.

May each bit fall in your gentle arms

Waiting in the sacred silence

Of peace unsurpassed

Where promises

Long made

Of peace

Everlasting

Come

Into

Being

In the

Silence

That lies

Beyond the

Transient transit

To eternal immortality.
