THIS POEM IS DEDICATED TO MY BEST FRIEND TINULA, THE SWEETEST DOG IN THE WORLD. IN INSPITE OF HER SAD CONDITION, SHE REMAINS STRONG, HOPEFUL AND LOVING.

DOGS ARE GOOD PEOPLE

Dogs are dogs: they say
That does not sound so good
But They are so much more, Iíd say
Itís not only about the food

Dogs are good people
They love us unconditionally
They are good and supple
They follow us mentally

Everyone should have a dog
ĎCause a dog has a huge soul
Sheíll warn you of the thick fog
And shield you from the otherís maul

I know because Iíve owned a few
A dog is the greatest being
She wants naught, as she loves you
Sheís like an angel sans the wings

They put some humans to shame
As they disseminate their love
They care not for spectacle or fame.
They are a gift from above

Here where surface falsehoods reign
I am always beautiful in my dogís eyes
Here where physical beauty is the domain
In that way, a dog is wise

Live! Our Doggies a thousand years
Their service is incomparable
They help to take away our tears
And in their loyalty, they are inexorable

They stop at nothing to please us
Dogs live to see us happy
My doggieís faithful only to me
He makes sure that weíre not lonely

A dog is the other great human
He would never betray us
Unlike some hollow men
Dogs are always true to us

They have a way of soothing souls
No games play they with oneís emotion
They know good friendship roles
They have no expectation

Their love never fades, instead it grows
While humans tire of each other
Dogs give companionship, not sorrows
And are as sweet as a flower

They will protect us Ďtil the end
Warn us of impending threats
A dog is a virtuous friend
He will always allay our frets

Dogs have unparalleled grace
And possess a will so strong
With an innocent and loving face
That never can go wrong

Even when sick they care
For us first
Itís not always fair
Their hearts too can burst

I looked into her eyes today
I see times of the essence
Youíre going to be all right, I say
But I canít deny the occurrence

Thereís something special in those eyes
I see a zest for life, a smile
Itís my turn now: I must be wise
Iíll fight for you, at least a while

Wishing that had I had the power
To make her last a few more days
Hoping hour, after hour
Hers arenít only yesterdays

Everything is possible
You never really tell
Because my faith is conceivable
My doggie even might get well.

They are the most wonderful "people", I dare say... wish more people would, in turn, be "good dogs"! ;0)
Loved your poem, and wish you all the best to you and your "girl".
One who loves them, too,
