It invades every fibre of my being

Entangling me in a war of words

Never satisfied always hungry for more

Tongue panting,thirst never quenched

As body writhes in tumultuous yearn

Finds relief in an orgasm of verbs

With every thought a noun is born

Though mastery of grammer is absent

A gift of word usage pours from a pen

Of crimson ink in rivulets of blood

Bled from every corpuscle staining

Paper with images that paint the scene

With vivid metaphor that mesmerizes

The skirmish becomes one continuous battle

In a war of ideas where there is no victory

It is fought every time word meets paper

They say Homer  showed "Vivida vis animi "

Called him the true father of poetry

So I guess I have him to thank for the

Fire in my soul, even though I'm a nobody!

No way, Eileen, YOU, my dear, are SOMEBODY. And the One Who lives in you makes it so. :) So there.

Write, write, write!

You a nobody?? NEVER in a MILLION years!! You are one of the BEST!! Excellent write; now get over that blue funk, and know you have friends who love and care for you!

I could really feel the battle here Eileen, but I think you are far from a nobody. ~ Sara

As long as you retain that fire in your soul, you can never be a 'nobody,' Tiger Lily. Those who just wander through life with no fire at all, are the true nobodies.

you'll never be a nobody to us or to any self respecting poet in the world

"OH, BROTHER! WHERE ART THOU, EILEEN?" Homer is making movies these days. Hollywood all the way. Now, do you want to hang out with those people? You are far and above that scene :>) My feelings about you are awe and inspiration. You are so brave to write about your faith and the strength of it. I get good feelings from you, all the way across the U S and onto this internet site.

If eileen is a nobody who in the den can claim to be a somebody? GBQ

No matter how you see yourself on this day, Eileen, here at the Den, you are certainly not a nobody. Some call you Queen, others call you Lady, soul bud, or tigger, but I sort of see you as the "Den Mother" gently coaxing us in an upward direction through your vision and your inspiring poems and stories. I hereby dub thee, "The Den Mother and Spiritual Guide of AD" (tapping both shoulders with a mighty quill) All Hail!!!
Take care,

Oh, this is superb, dear Eileen! Poetry is, indeed, blood that must flow in the veins of the Poet, as the Poet is the heart where Poetry pulses. "The glorious gifts of the gods are not to be cast aside" ~ Homer, The Illiad
Thank you for sharing glorious gifts that flow!

So Homer was once a nobody. You write of things that matter to people. Love for the most part, and you write about love with love, therein is the difference. Anyone can write of love but not many can do it as exceptional as you. Been meaning to say that for some time now.

HA! And I thought I was going to come here with my bag of popcorn and watch you beat the snot out of some errant AuthorsDen poet. ROFL! Just kidding. A wonderful poem, Eileen, expressing the fire in our poetic souls sometimes as we pen a poem. ~~Nordette

my dear friend,
never have you ever been a "nobody". your words have poured out on the parchament to stir the imaginings of countless other poets, such as myself. they have cut, seared, salved, burned, healed, incited, imasculated, wrenched and writhed...these are not the emotions that can be stirred by a "nobody" and certainly ...you are SOMEBODY, with heart, soul and fire for the written word that we enjoy and employ as "poetry".
(she takes a long low bow)
and I, call you "friend"
all the best wishes.
tremendous write with stirring musical accompaniment.
hope you and yours had/have a fabulous holiday season.
always with a hug
