Picasso- self-portrait

If I were to paint your portrait

I wouldn't know where to begin

You have so many expressions

It's a contest of which would win

Your features are all so beguiling

Only rarely do we see them smiling

Deep dark eyes full of enlightenment

Ruggedly handsome very mysterious

Your countenance is mostly serious

How does one capture you on canvas

How to display an extraordinary mind

Especially parts of interest that are fickle

Never knowing what one will find

Perhaps I can color-code characteristics

Because your persona  is all about sex

What hues can I use for your kinesics

This is all becoming too complex

All this pondering to capture a look

To heck with it I'll just write a book

A delightful poem, Eileen. Especially the ending. I am totally with Andy and what he said about Picasso. Why was he so bad and so rich and famous?

Picasso was one of the great spirits of the previous century. He knew there is much more to see than meets the eye. His trade both allowed and urged him to reflect on matters outside of generally accepted boundaries. He did that exuberantly and almost obsessively. Perhaps crossing a line in doing so forced him to live and work like he did; there was no other option for him. It made him rise above all that limits, structures and contradicts itself. Take care,

It would of been interesting meeting Picasso and speaking to him about the images he shared with his talent.

A complexed personality is certainly a challenge! :-)

That old Carly Simon's "You're So Vain," is playing in my head. Gotta love it. Beautifully done.

Ha!! Somehow, I think it would be easier to capture someone in a portrait than in a book. Either way, I am with Karla on this one, it would be quite interesting either way.
Take care,
