Standing on the shore by an ocean,
my tears freely flowing

There was no water,it was a sea of
wasted words

Waves of words that came back to
haunt the users

Indifferent words demeaning the
 recipient

Useless words offending sensibilities

Cruel words causing pain

Scathing words inflicting damage

Deceitful words creating distrust

Vulgar words,malicious words, stupid
words,none of them  good

A  bad word ocean in ebb and flow
throughout the universe

We don't need weapons of war to destroy us we use words that kill relationships daily

With a plethora of good words to choose from, what is our excuse?

Now that is the question we should all ask ourselves in moments of anger, excitement, stress, etc... And a question I have asked myself many times, after the fact...sigh... If only they could be recalled as easily as they spew forth.

Exactly and there are such beautiful words

use those that hurt so...I don't know Eileen

People don't realize how powerful words are, they become things I always say, imagine the Maker himself just used words to create the earth and since we're made in His image, our words carry thesame weight. This is beautiful Eileen, I love your work.

Words can be used like feathers caressing a love one face, and words can also be used as deadly rocks, all comes down to the hand that writes them...

Written from the heart with integrity, Eileen! To paraphrase Mark Antony: "Our harshest of words live after us; our kindest are oft' interred with our bones." Great commentary in your poem, dear friend!!

Eileen...what you've said here is incredible...in verse and in truth. Often times words can make...or break us...if we let them.

Eileen,

How right you are. Words can either close the door to life or steal one's heart away. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

I concur, words can be like long daggers that penetrate with deadly accuracy. My mom would always say; if you don't have something good to say don't say anything!

So much gossip going on in the world. Am at the point I hate to hear any gossip by my friends. Will have to tell them don't even tell me any. I am trying to be a better person in the Lord's sight and another of my friend swears, and I did tell her about that. Wicked words said to another is not my cup of tea either. I try to hold my tongue and not get so mad at anyone. Another friend fights with her husband daily, I wish mine were back, but I would not fight with him either, life is too short. I guess I am somewhat in with the wrong friends right now.
