A Crumpled Piece Of Paper

Many years ago in 1980 my best friend wrote words of a song to me, I came across that crumpled piece of paper a while ago and as I cried I pressed it out to place it in a safe place for life. My best friend and I married a year later. That crumpled piece of paper, I will always cherish.

A Crumpled Piece Of Paper

I sit for hours by the phone,
Hoping with all my might, it will ring.
I open up a crumpled piece of paper,
and I soon begin to sing.
The words that you have written,
It seem so very long ago,
Words of a love song for me,
Long before our love did show.
A crumpled piece of paper,
As I find my eyes, they stare,
At those very touching words,
That said how much you really care.
Tossed aside and forgotten for a time,
This piece of paper with thoughts of me in mind.
Words that I will long cherish,
All my whole life through,
Reading it daily as a sacred prayer,
The precious words I received from you.
I’ll press that piece of paper,
Gently set it a our Bible so divine,
Because this piece of paper is all mine.

Exceptional and origianal write that truly captures the uniqueness of what memories come from relationships and how things that once though important as time goes by become pirceless. Great write dear Cuz and I certainly know how important scraps of paper can be.

What a truly touching write of a great love. I am a sentimental foul as well - and I can cry too over very small things. It wasnt that long ago that I came across some old occassional cards that my dear Eugene gave to me, and as I sat there and read his words - my eyes they filled with tears. Thank you for sharing.
