So many little children are off to school today, lets pray it is a safe fun day for all. Here are two of our Grandchildren Freddy and Shelby and they sure look ready for their big day.

Off To School They Go
September 6, 2011
By Rose Marie Rideout

School goes back today,
I guess it’s plain to see,
The streets will be so quiet,
Not seen or heard by one kiddie.
Their books are all ready,
Their lunches packed to go,
For they’ll be so excited,
As off to school they go.

Mommies will be smiling,
A sigh of relief upon their face,
As each child will be running,
to the bus stop in a race.
You’ll see little Freddy
and Shelby will be in tow,
They’ll rush to meet their friends,
As off to school they go.

Some kiddies will be smiling,
Others will shed a tear,
For it will be their first day,
They’ll wander off in fear.
Little Krystal will have her first day,
Connor will show her all around,
They’ll meet to tell their stories,
Out on the big playground.

Brendon will be lonely,
As he waits at home alone,
While sissy Kaylee goes with friends
And he is left at home.
His day will surely come
He’ll have a book bag in tow,
Right now he has to watch ,
As off to school they go.

The first day of school is always bittersweet. Rest, finally! But when it's their first day going on the bus, fear always hits. After that, thank God, peace for a while! The was so wonderfully written and expresses every mother's feelings, after a hard summer.

Great! I love this, Rose. I especially love the ending, with the little child who has to stay home watches their sibling go off to school.

awww... these two look more than ready... mine were mere babes in arms, I'm sure! :)) An anxious and weepy time for carers, but a brave new world for these young guns anxious to flit the nest... and so it continues... May they live, love and learn staying always safe and well. xx

Anna surely has her finger on the pulse this time around. Bet your grand kids will always treasure this one, Rose. I know mine have always gotten excited when a poem about them appears in one of my books.

This one is definitely a keeper. Thanks Dick
