My favorite season, the weather isn't too cold but it isn't too hot, the children seem to enjoy the colourful leaves.

Tis the Season
October 15,2011
By Rose Marie Rideout

Through the Dark of night,
The silence of day,
The cracking of leaves,
Tip toeing along the way.

The colours of gold,
Yellows and browns,
The warmth of a blanket,
Lay upon the ground.

No directions given,
They seem to understand,
The order of life,
In each given command.

Raking of the leaves,
Before the first snowfall arrive,
With the laughter from children,
Who all come alive.

Jumping and playing,
The laughter’s begun,
For the children have gathered,
For a whole day of fun.

Northern autumns truly can be a fun time, for all;
Even my many mutts love romping in leaves, in fall.

Nice one Rose. This used to be my favorite time of the year too, way back when I still lived in the north. Great football weather, but also time to buckle up and layer up.

Good Job, thanks Dick

It's been so many years that it is hardly a memory, but I remember the raking time at my parents house in Skokie, Illinois with my two eldest children and the rolling in the leaves once raked, scattering them again... Good poem, Rosie

OUr leaves are still pretty much on the trees & as far as I am concerned they can stay that way...I don't like raking, so I leave it for the winter wind to blow away...enjoy fall...e
