Clockwork memory

In her dream
she walks slowly
down the grey stairs
and the light goes off
so she listens
to her sleepy conscience
that enhances the sound
of darkness.

Spiraling movements
remembered as a refreshing shower
of liquid memories -
pale fingers on the handrail
a beige coat that flutters
like a flag sucked
in the dark void center -
she walks slowly
then she stops.

Time switch
clockwork memory
heartbeat awakening
through a dream
from the cold silence
of the staircase:
hissing pipes
buzzing cables
reminders of a stale world
against her warm breath.

She reaches for the light switch
to bring back the electric soul
artificial clarity
now only used
to free those ghosts
those toys locked in a cell.

Frozen moments end
when the spell of darkness is over
with the echo of her laughter

lingering in the staircase
when her eyes are open wide
and in ash blond morning conscience
she’s awakened
to her life.

Palpable fear in the third stanza. Your harsher-sounding consonants rap against the palate of our minds. It works very well.

I like the alliteration of the last stanza--a full resolution back to reality and calm mind. --Charlie

Axilea,
Transition between worlds of dream, sleep and consciousness well captured and expressed, word choice so effective and right, and the handrail and staircase images particularly rich in the context and theme.

Loved the description of those frozen moments which make up our dreams...transitioning to that moment of waking.

Your transitions through impeccable word choices between each stanza are brilliant; the way you've constructed this piece gives it wonderful flow not only in sound, but in the unfolding meaning. The third stanza is like a wake-up call that fits beautifully, yet effectively jolts the reader from the preceding stupor toward an awakening.

This is wonderful indeed as it captures the hopes and dreams that were once abandoned and shines new light on them. good to see you back posting.

Awakening to life again, what we all do in the morning. A dream is the most frightening thing sometimes. I do dream lots of weired dreams. This poetry fascinates me, no truer words can be said like you say them here. Putting them into perspective is just the way you did it. Thanks for the neat writing.
