The Island

I let my imagination run... or swim across the sea.

I’ve seen an island:
concentric rings of golden blue to separate the land and feed it with the vibrations of the outer world.

Shell-shaped fantasy becoming true , minute after minute, shifting like clouds in an afternoon sky with the wind’s invisible force revealed.

I left you a message, I wonder if you found it.
It spoke of my integrity that sometimes turns from magenta to lavender blue.

Did you notice the subtle changes of weather at this latitude, with rain that feeds the earth and sunshine that always comes back? Oh, the island is steady: I’ve seen its anchor in the deepest sea!

Your hand was shaking, going through drawers and opening cardboard boxes as defeated as you. You were looking for proof to feed the delusion and signs to interpret, an omen and a clue. They would
push
the truth
off-camera
just push
away
defeating that very part of you that begs to live and touch, with osmotic membrane softly permeable to solutions of love.

While you destroyed yourself  to protect your empty shell, I called for the water to surround me again. Adrift lies your conscience.

A game of sad projections, fury and a catapult, with cold cutting stones, hit a pair of bank swallows: the sudden, meaningless end of free flight.

And sometimes, when skies turn to mirror grey, I catch a glimpse of myself and I am that island.

(Your heart will stop beating when you find the message that I left for you).

You....Axilea...are an island of creativity. One can only be a part of you for those moments where we touch you within thought...to grasp those emotions of life that are embedded within the message you write of. There is so much within the underlaying of your work that one must read repetively to truly understand the poetic expressions of your work.

Exceptional...

This was simply amazing, solid as an Island can be, and colorful like a rainbow of life.

Axilea,

Powerfully penned, this prose poem - undone by the creativity of your pen. Well done.

WEll, these lines just lap at the mind like water--so fluid I thought it came from my own mind, only it's too... not me, and so you. Some of your word combos I especially liked were (here's my favorite:) "mirror grey", then there's "shell-shaped fantasy", your purple hue shifts, and the line about the anchored island. I too love how you shift from your fluidity to the choppy sequence of avoiding truth, and return to the liquid, lapping lines of the rest of the prose/poem.

The last line is particularly eerie after having mesmerized the readers into a sense of security anchored in your sea of words.

I love this style of writing for you. --Charlie

True freedom insists on expression in this beautiful poem, Axilea. The contrast of "your empty shell" and the island that is steady, anchored in the deepest seas, invites the reader to rise above apathy, resume her/his flight, even when the skies turn grey. I hope the message is found by the reader for whom it is intended.

this somehow reminds me of a modern-day Virginia Woolf... her writing in streams of consciousness, circling an idea or event like paths in a maze. Love your imagery and seamless internal/external voicing and address. Fabulous tone and appeal to the senses. Also like the way you chop and switch, yet coming back to your theme. A different slant and interpretation to be found on multiple readings. Intriguing prose, thank you. Kate xx

As a great song writer team once sang..."I am a rock, I am an I...sland..." and your intense imnages and sould searching lines created a masterpiece of poetry here. It has depth, soul and heart and you captivated my imagination with this one dear friend.

Axilea,
The complexities here are fascinating, the suggestions and levels of meaning quite wonderful - island as physical entity and separation, as emotional apartness and yet possibility, as difference in how two interpret and respond to the world and to each other. Superb!
