Another Beer I seem to Repeat

Another Beer I seem to Repeat

Nine men occupy places along the bar
One seat lies lifeless no one upon it
The air circles smelling of beer and tar
Is this space reserved or may I sit

Eighteen eyes following the barmaids movements
Except two their watching lovers across the street
Smiling under the sun laughing and cuddling
Makes me wonder where’s my girl when will we meet

Right holding a beer cig in the left
And my ass is glued to the seat
Looking back at the barmaid
Another beer I seem to repeat

Feeling like my legs has left the premises
I should really follow get some fresh air
The lure of the bar still being a mystery
I shall move on look for love elsewhere

Blinded by sunlight rush of traffic at my feet
An erg to turn left outweighs going to the right
Walking with the flow nothing wants to change
Decided to smile which felt very strange

Images of loneliness is what I read: looking for chit-chat or companionship, and settling for "another beer". Going left or right, good that your legs were still working :o) I DID enjoy the poem...

This had a real 30's feel to it and I was having flashes of Dylan Thomas, not from the writing style, but the lifestyle. This was like a photograph of a time, a time that could be anytime. Very well-written.
