Have you ever tried
To make a wrong
Right
But found yourself
Hampered
At every turn?
That is where
I find myself
Tonight,
Feeling
So discouraged
With myself
And the situation
I created
During my recent days
Of madness.
I tell myself
That things
Could be
A lot worse
And remind myself
Of other days
In my past
When the damage I created
Was much worse,
Yet,
Somehow,
I not only survived,
But succeeded
In putting those days
Behind me,
Only revisited now
When the mania
That comes
With being bipolar
Overcomes me
And drives me
To do mindless things.
I remind myself
That I've come so far,
That I've benefited
From medication
And counseling,
And that nothing I do today
Is as bad as
What came before;
Still,
I find myself
Discouraged
As I struggle
To clean up
My latest mess,
And carry on
Once more.

Without a descriptive explanation, I assume this is about you. I can identify very well with bipolar disorder because I don't have it. However, your words are eloquent in the way you describe your turmoil.

You're talking to the choir as far as I'm concerned. We all (we bipolar people) have to constantly fight to keep our emotions under strict control. We lose the battle often. Hang in, this too shall p[ass.
