This is the first of my books. It's unlike the other two in that it could be classified as a young adult, but it's okay for adults, too. And just remember. If you read me..

Walking down memory lane;

holding hands with my Deb.

Reminiscing on yesterday,

On a love that doesn’t ebb.

Eyes on tomorrow,

But enjoying today.

Life, it is changing;

As I become a new Day.

Peeling away the layers,

We create a new life.

None could deserve it more

Than my own darling wife.

A small Baptist Church,

I can’t believe t’was 25 years ago.

A beautiful bride strode slowly to me,

Her face adorned in a heavenly glow.

Twenty five years,

Where did they go.

Blessed for a quarter of a century,

Because she didn’t say “no.”

How could it happen,

Such a magickal thing.

I can still sense that wonderful feeling,

As she let me slip on her ring.

A Church full of well wishers,

Family and friends.

They saw us off on a journey

That never, ever ends.

Rice in the air,

rice in our hair.

A smile was born

That I eternally wear.

A love that grows

As a living blossom.

I spend all of my Days

With a girl I call Possum.

I can’t help but recall

The fear that I felt.

I prayed for happiness,

On bended knees I knelt.

When an angel marries a troll,

Tis a wondrous thing.

A monumental occasion

To make a heavenly chorus sing.

I can see my hands lift the veil

To uncover her sweet face.

I can her my heart thumping

And I can feel it race

What were those words?

What did he say?

“I would like to be the first

to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Day.”

What a magnificent statement.

What a beauty sound to my ears.

We faced the future together

Without any fears.

I can see the smiling faces

And I can feel the love in the air

As he took us by the hands

And introduced as pair.

It sounds kind of corny,

Like some childish game.

But one of my favorite things

Is watching her sign her name.

Twenty Five years

And it still makes my head sway.

When I watch sign a check,

As Mrs. Jeff Day.

Still one of my favorite things

To have heard someone ever say.

“I would like to be the first

to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Day.”

J.L., what a wonderful tribute to your wonderful wife. Isn't it a great feeling to look in the face of the one you've loved all those years and still get gooseflesh as you kiss her lips. It makes me so happy to read about a happy couple...I've been truly blessed to so I know exactly how you feel. Live each day to the fullest and be thankful you captured a true love.

Excellent feelings. Like the old saying goes, "Tomorrow is the first day for the rest of your life." Congratulations on your accomplishment. May all your Days be filled with love, joy and blessings.
