Richard and Jodi since 1947

This performing arts presentation by Richard Lee Orey
is of
the original words by Neil Diamond of his stirring song...

                                    The Story of My Life

                                         The story of my life
                                          Is very plain to read

It starts the day you came
And ends the day you leave
                                          The story of my life
                                          Begins and ends with you
The names are still the same
And the story is still true
                                           I was alone.
                                          You found me waiting
                                          And made me your own
                                           I was afraid that somehow
                                           I could never be
The man that you wanted of me.
You're the story of my life

                                           And every word is true
                                           Each chapter sings your name
                                           Each page begins with you
It's the story of our times
                                           And never letting go
                                           If I die today
                                           I wanted you to know
                                           Stay with me here
                                           Share with me

                                           Care with me
                                           Stay and be near
                                           When it began
                                            I'd lie awake every night
                                           Just knowing somewhere deep inside
Our love affair just might write
                                           The story of my life
It's so very plain to read
It starts the day you came
It ends the day you leave

A very poignant, happy but tugging at the heart description of what the true man in love experiences. My goodness, Richard, what happened to us. You had hair and I had hair. And, what a beautiful wife you have. Let us hope together, that the stories of our lives, which largely are our highly valued spouses, aren't entering their final stages, but are the settings for new beginnings. With all friendship and admiration for good insight, Richard.....Jerry

Richard, I truly enjoyed your recitation and the excellent poem you wrote. I think it really does reflect your life and who you are. The picture is very complimentary of you both, but especially Jodi. Don't know what she looks like now, but she was certainly a beautiful lady when the picture was taken.

I think you definitely have much to be proud of for your lengthy marriage with the same woman you origionally took as your bride and the stable homelife you offered your children. You and Jodi will one day leave a warm and remembered legacy behind to your children and grandchildren.

Glad to see you back on AD and developing the "poetry habit".

Best wishes and many blessings...
