Richard Lee Orey reads Romantic Poetess Victoria L. McColley:
"When a new-found love already belongs to another."

It's a privilege and an honor to publicly read poetry written
by my dear friend Victoria McColley.  In my 80th year, I think
it comfortable and fitting that I recite the earliest poem this
great artist shares with us in her postings on Authorsden.

                                                                                                                                             --Richard Lee Orey

                                                                                                   Days of Old

I stumbled upon a chest

full of treasures gems and gold...

Locked within a loyal devotion

honoring the days of old...

I held the secure lock of promise

it opened within my hands...

In vows to love me forever

with royal servant commands...

I sat with my disbelief

how something so good to be true ...

Then a wave of realization whisked upon me

and it was then I knew...

I was looking at a treasure

of gems and gold upon this chest...

Belonging to another’s heart

from days of old that will not rest...

Everyone of us must have a chest full of treasures of happy, sad memories and of fulfilled and unfulfilled dreams. So marvelous of Ms. McColley to put them beautifully in a poem. Thank you, Richard, for introducing me to another wonderful writer as you.

Don't know how I missed this one, Richard. This one has a touch of melancholy that is not resolved by the ending. Maybe it wasn't supposed to be resolved--and was meant to leave the reader wondering about the box, it's owner, and the hearts mingled thereof. A touch of mystery lingers on.

Nicely done, Richard

As you know I needed to compose my thoughts...you reached directly inside my heart of emotions to hear you read this poem...my sensitivity level is so elevated hearing your voice read my words which are more than words, they are expressively very deep emotions. You conveyed my feelings beautifully!! Thank You so much Richard for Blessing Me With YOU!! Now Ms. Kleenex & I shall listen to this once more...okay maybe more than once more...this is so very special...you’re special! Your presence in my heart makes life more beautiful!
