We nod our introductions and pursue our mutual search, pondering, "Are you my soul mate?"

I Dream of You
(Reading by Richard Lee Orey)

Even before we meet,

Your image and qualities fill my soul

With the need of you.

I Dream of You

Across space, you come to me
With unwavering eyes.

You cling to me
With a warm and gentle smile.

I know you in my heart.
No words are spoken,

Yet I hear you clearly—

“Am I pleasing to you?”

My heart beats my secret—

“Surely, you are the most beautiful

Creature ever created by God.”

With ethereal presence,

Your vision enraptures—

Enticing luxury of soft clinging hair,

Exciting curves of hips and legs,

Spellbinding rhythm of movement,

Aromatic scent, fresh and clean.

My eyes perceive your form—

How you wear your clothes,

Your well-groomed appearance of

Legs smooth and tan.

We nod our introductions and

Pursue our mutual search, pondering,

“Are you my soul mate?”

I feel your personality

In our easy conversation,

In the sound of your voice.

Do you both talk and listen?

Are you thoughtful?

Do you laugh easily?

Oh, you’re so beautiful…

But are you sensitive?

Are you shy, quiet, reserved,
Are you nonforceful?

Are you confident, self-assured, assertive,
Are you forceful?

Neither is a deal breaker, so they say.

I search for the vital answers that
I'll know in minutes

Do you share personal feelings?

Details of life?

Are you close and reticent,

Keeping everything to yourself,

Holding privacy above sharing?

Are you a discloser or a nondiscloser?

My matchmakers say this element

Is critical.

If we match, we have staying power.

If we don’t, we’re fooling ourselves

For the healthy lusting of enduring love

Feeds on harmony of souls and nature.

Yet chemistry rises to participate—

Are you attractive?

Do I enjoy your company?

When I hold you tomorrow,

Will I feel lasting excitement?

Yet even as I move to you,

I know you are looking, too—

Will he provide and secure my life

And the well-being of our children?

Is he attractive?

Is he intelligent?

Does he laugh easily?

Do I enjoy his company?

When he holds me tomorrow,

Will I feel lasting excitement?

Tonight, I will dream.

Tonight, I will feel your presence

With my body and in my soul.

Tomorrow, my heart will know.

Tomorrow, I’ll pray for whispered words.

Tell me true , Love.  Tell me true ,

“I Dream of You.”

All important considerations that will be revealed in time if she is the "One". What a tender and endearing poem. You are a fine poet, able to touch the soul.

I have often thought about the soul mate connection. You have put new thoughts into my mind. However, I feel that one must let nature take it's course, because I truly believe in the Universal powers that guide us every moment of our lives.
Destiny as we think of it, really is just having Faith in the Universe's plan for us.

In closing I want to say that you have not only an amazing mind, but and amazing voice...You really need to do this more!!!

Much peace, love, and light, my friend,

Hi Richard,

This is quite an all encompasing poem. It reads beautifully in parts, but the second half tends to lose some of that lilting romantic appeal--the soul mate we all long for and few achieve, becoming more of a resume. This could easily be made into two separate poems, each saying the same thing in a different way. As it stands, it's is still a powerfully effective poem of love's hopes and demands. I enjoyed it.

Hearing you read this is the whisper of love’s reminder to be true to our self
Beautiful penetrations upon my heart Richard...and how often do any of us fool no other than our own self when looking for our soul mate...knowing they are there, feeling their presence no matter how far the distances...subjecting our self to live a life without them...but my Sweet Dearest Richard what is one to do? My questions I ask myself, know I need the heart which is truthful...for in that heart I know is where I belong...You have a heart of truth...and you make my heart smile knowing your there. Like I always make life more beautiful for me....
You are wonderful & a beautiful soul & a loving poet! Coincidently...First thing upon my thoughts as I woke up this morning was about Soul Mates & how impassioned I feel...and perhaps I shall post one of those poems today...
