Poking a bit of fun at the ritual of marital courtship

                                    Tourist Guide
(Authored and recited by Richard Lee Orey

Pretty girls with lots of curls
                                                                                                   Have daring on their side
They lead their guys with fluttering eyes
                                                                                                   As if a tourist  guide

The view of all the eager men
Is to somehow find a way
                                                                                                   Yet instinctively the pretty girls
                                                                                                   Lead them all astray

The lady thinks of picket fences
                                                                                                   And children in her fate
                                                                                                   The fellow never understands
                                                                                                   Until it's way too late.

She shows a leg and then a thigh
As he sits and dreams and stares
She moves her hips and puckers her lips
                                                                                                    And offers all she dares

Pretty girls with lots of curls
                                                                                                   Have daring on their side
They lead their guys with fluttering eyes
                                                                                                   As if a tourist guide

She drops a scheming tear or two
                                                                                                   That blinds his keen detection
                                                                                                   His focus being  purely physical
                                                                                                   With adequate protection

No sooner does his heat rise up
                                                                                                   With closeness on his mind
Than she offers him her size of ring
And puts him in a bind

With shoulders bare she winks her eyes
                                                                                                   Her jeweler right next door
She leads him on with little white lies
And makes him want her more

While he checks his dating book
                                                                                                   And continues on the make
                                                                                                   She's talking with her pastor
                                                                                                   And ordering a wedding cake

Pretty girls with lots of curls
                                                                                                   Have daring on their side
They lead their guys with fluttering eyes
                                                                                                    As if a tourist  guide

She whispers in his naked ear
"Don't leave me in the lurch
If you want me like I want you,
I'll see you soon in church."

According to the plan she made
The "I do" voice comes soon
As they scurry past the hailing rice
                                                                                                   And start their honeymoon

Pretty girls with lots of curls
                                                                                                   Have daring on their side
They lead their guys with fluttering eyes
                                                                                                   As if a tourist  guide

This story ends like most, I guess,
As they drive away to hide,
It's all because of the pretty girl
                                                                                                   We know as Tourist Guide

It's all because of the pretty girl
                                                                                                   We know as Tourist Guide

The art of seduction, the game of love, the widow spider's trap, I like your rendition better, after all who can resist a cute tourist guide...

Another wonderful offering by you, Richard.

Richard,
What a delightful poem--a little different that your usual but just as entertaining. Again, you have such great meter!! You really should find a songwriter to put these to music. You could be a country western star :).

Have a Have a wonderful Christmas
