I love a Sno-ball in August,
I love a King Cake smile,
I love a funky brass band, and
Time to enjoy it a while!
I love those French Quarter nights,
I love Old Man River too!
I love the krewes and long parades,
And walks on the levee with you!
I love my Rex and Bacchus,
I love that big Creole moon,
I love a nice Jazz Funeral,
On a sticky day in June!
I love St. Louis Cathedral,
I love a Sazerac... OH...
I love a place where snow falls,
Once every decade or so!
I love neutral grounds and crawfish,
Crazy Fat Tuesdays and such!
I love friends like Vic and Nat'ly,
Yes, I love New Orleans so much!
I love Esplanade and Bourbon,
And the St. Charles streetcar line,
In the city that care forgot,
I love that Poydras Street sign!
I love a fresh Muffuletta,
I love Lafitte and Laveau!
Sometimes a song just says it best...
What a Wonderful World, Satchmo!
Gimme the Saints in the big game,
May I live to see them win!
Gimme barbecued shrimp and Dixie,
When at last they go marching in!
I love a fried oyster poboy,
Beignets and a good etouffee,
I Love and I miss New Orleans...
Much more on a day like today!
Hell and high water, we've seen our share of both, still no other place, could even come close!
Note: Poem is a newer version of my old poem Gimme N'awlins.
