When we look at our Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval endless unhappy years, we arrive at the notion we may have been conned ...

"The Sting"

by Ted L Glines

Our lives are like a wild digesting gizzard,

we fill our lives with toys - we're living fine

until we join the old bankrupcy line,

our master rules our life - promotion wizard,

he sells us swim-suits even in a blizzard,

give me one more beer - perhaps a glass of wine,

the TV con-man cometh while we dine,

the salesman is a green Australian lizard.

We never have to plan our path today,

the TV puppet-masters guide our thought,

the surgeon-general tells us what to eat,

and rules the styles of living we have bought,

opinion polls will guide us come what may

as we move forward into our defeat.

Turn on the tube ye ever-mindless sheep,

and let it tell you when to laugh or weep,

like mice - keep running through the maze,

and live in blind consumer haze,

and only find your Selves in depths of sleep.

You got it. What happened to "Be still, and know that I am God." Every person owes it to take time in solitude and thought to know what really is--you make a solid admonition....Jerry

Hi Ted
Thank goodness for those who I'll call non-sheep. Hopefully the coming generations can climb above the sheep. Be well, Liz

Those that have a shovel start digging a deep hole, and don't be selfish make it roomy, so your fellow men that lost their shovels to the bankers can have a decent six foot under.

The media has gone plumb loco, dictating what we should look like/act like/love/pray (or not)/etc. etc. Shame. Scary: how much more can Big Brother intrude? Afraid to find out *ducking*. Well done, Ted!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

It is sad how the electronic media of today controls so much of our day to day life and I am amazed at how our children and our children's children are even more addicted to what they see and hear. Exercise by electronics, food by microwave, clothes by ebay, and love by cyber chat...scary tines ahead.
