Cosmic Suicide (The Force of Progress) was written in the late 90s after watching a documentary concerning the plight of wild animals in China and elsewhere. This version is from 2005 where I used a range of software programs I was getting into at the time. It has been played on local radio here in Central Victoria.

* Cosmic Suicide (The Force of Progress) - Go to YouTube version of 'Cosmic Suicide' or 'Internet Archive' site for the Movie + audio version of 'Cosmic Suicide' by Ian Irvine, copyright 1998-2010. See also AudioBoo recording (posted 2013). Although the song is copyright as above the video was put together using footage from a number of public domain sources on offer at:

"This song has become my definitive statement on the environmental crisis of the late 20th century early 21st. It represents an ambiguous movement beyond anger into profound melancholy/pessimism about the suicidal unwillingness of governmments, media,  corporations and ordinary people, particularly in the West, to properly address the global nature of many of the problems now facing our species and the earth-ark upon which we 'cling' ... The recent climate change inaction/debacle in Copenhagen  brought this song to mind once again ... indeed as politicians ducked and weaved to avoid hard action it was as though I willed this song to dominate the airwaves/TV channels of the world for a moment ... to drown out the gibberish being spouted by our 'leaders'"
Ian Irvine July 2010.
