An interesting take on Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins' best-seller.

The Baptists tell us,
A lot of Pentecostals,
And other evangelicals, too,
“There’s a great rapture
Coming to bear
He’ll take all of us Christians
Out of here.
A time of tribulation
Is coming soon,
And if you remain,
Then shall you see such pain,
You’re cursed if you’re left behind."

Yet, I look at the work on the page,
And up upon the screen,
Telling the story of
The converted ones,
Those who wouldn’t serve
God when it was a simple choice
And now must do so risking
Their very lives,
And I say,
“Blessed are the left behind.”

They walk upon the Earth,
Willing to risk and act,
They fight for what’s right
And aren’t ruled by an abundance of tact,
That’s because God took
Away all of the cowards
And weak,
He raptured away all those who
Read the polls
And catch the latest trend,
Blessed are the left behind!

They stand up for what is right and true ,
They fight for God’s worldview,
They don’t back away or back down,
No matter how large the crowd,
God spared all the worldly
From suffering or fear,
God took away all those who
Knew the world
Was what it was, and that it had to be
That way,
Blessed are the left behind!

They reach out the hand of love,
They touch people with his heart,
And bring home the lost,
And teach them to count the cost,
God in his mercy took away
Everyone who served on our committees
That delayed every goal;
Snatched away were the self-righteous,
And those who feared that sin was a disease
That they might catch,
Blessed are the left behind!

God took away the weak and worldly,
Leaving behind those who’d become true ,
He gave rest to those who refused to labor,
Or even live for him,
He let them inhabit His kingdom,
Full of their hypocrisy and sin.
Wasn’t that so nice of Him?
When righteousness and love fail,
When fear overcomes our faith,
When we are weak and frail
We should know who is at fault,
We can’t blame Maculuso,
Nor Carpathia,
The fault lies not in some
Far-away man of sin,
The church’s problem
Lies within
The heart of those who are
Supposed to serve Him,
But will not suffer,
And will not love,
And will not take a stand,
Blessed are the left behind!

So while Jenkins and Lahaye write,
Let us remember this,
The Lord calls us to live for Him today,
The fires and the trials
That we fear and avoid,
Are the very things that make us strong,
That help us find where we belong,
In the center of God’s will,
Where we are refined,
And we are shaken,
Broken and remade.
Until the church is so remade,
I will always say,
“Blessed are the left behind!”

This one has many values and thoughts provoking piece. I am familiar with the Spiritual writers you are referring to here the muse is excellent. It is in serving and now I beleive I also beleive the trials are needed to refine further for even greater faith and walk. Of service to the Lord. This one has me rereading a keeper for later.
Thank you for sharing the depth here.
Blessed New year,
