The Little Soldier Poem And Lyrics
I remember dad’s tears in my mom’s eyes
When he was ordered to serve overseas
That my father looked right into my eyes
“You are the man of the house for awhile.”
The years have past and the tears have since dried
After officers in dress uniforms
Did notify my mom of dad’s passing
That today a soldier serves their country
I remember the child
That saluted that day
On a flag draped coffin
When (my) dad was put to rest
I remember dad’s tears in my mom’s eyes
When he was ordered to serve overseas
That my father looked into my eyes
“You are the man of the house for now.”
I remember the child
That saluted that day
When my dad was put to rest
In his uniform saluting America
The tears flow inside pride for one’s country
That finds another dad with a wife’s tears
When I was ordered to serve overseas
A son that must step up to be a man
I remember the child
That saluted that day
When my dad was put to rest
In his uniform saluting America
I remember the child
That saluted that day
Please God, help this dad
Come home
And hug his son again.
