Poetry Alone Can Not Sate The Heart

Art "Favour"
By Edmund Blair Leighton

Bring Me More Than Words
By La Belle Rouge

bring me more than your words
poetry can fill the page
but it alone can never sate the heart

i will come to you...but only
when you can come to me
empty handed and impressionable

not full of your words and plans
nor distracted by your thoughts

i want your complete attention
how can you understand me
when your thoughts are distant?

how can you hold my hand
when yours are already full?

i will come to you at last
when your heart is open
and cleansed of hidden desires
for all but who we can be together

words... they’re only words
and i need more than words
if i share my heart with you

no, i won’t be second to a ghost
i won’t compete with a memory

i will be the only woman in your soul
the only living love in your heart

or i will remain a distant fantasy
you will never truly know or touch

never again will i accept
balancing on the precarious edge
and not resting in the center of love

so come to me.... alone,
unaccompanied by the past,

and if you must bring "her" with you
don’t come at all

How can anybody dare to take "her" under your roof?
Shared love is like walking with both feet in one shoe.

Such strength in your writing as always, darling Belle. And such heart-rending honesty.

never again will i accept
balancing on the precarious edge
and not resting in the center of love

... A woman's heart is made to be poised and focussed on all that she desires to nurture, and not marginalised so that she lives with inner dysfunction. So clearly you put this in these succinct lines. Your poetry teaches as well as reveals. Very few have the depth of self-knowledge and understanding that you so graciously possess.

You show us in this beautiful write that the road to inner peace is often at the cost of that which we hold most dear: our cravings, loves and obsessions. You are one brave lady and I love and admire you immensely. Bless you, Kate xx

La Belle, I don't remember who said it...but it goes like this; "If you're going to talk the talk, you've got to walk the walk." Good pen.

Peace,
