Behind The Curtains
By La Belle Rouge

kiss these blinded eyes
for I have chosen to close them
to the ugliness of life
to the emptiness of nothingness
yet I feel your warmth
closer than breath
your unique scent unlike
any I can remember

except in reveries
of other times on other shores

lay down with me
in meadows of forgetfulness
where we can at last become
who we are destined to be

for whom have we saved
the depths of our souls?
tell me why we are sealed up
like secret caves in the hearts
of unexplored rock mountiains

give to me what you have given
to no other, your true identity

your beauty and repulsiveness
and your gaze may wander
behind my drawn curtains
into the transparent windows

of a woman by love set free
unashamed to be....simply me

How many a man hadn't wished to hear those words wrapped in tenderness, and yes, the words talk of a desire to go back to other times and other shores when sincerity of feelings was a virtue and not a manipulation from repulsive ones.
The poem could had been going forever, because, one can't stop wishing more.
