Hard Letting Go

Phantom Conversations

She hadn’t seen him
since he moved out of the world.
Hadn’t breathed his flavor.

Hadn’t spoken except in half-
conscious dreams. She’d
spring awake talking to him,

a one-way conversation in her
delusional desire. Could they
connect through a spiritual wire?

Oh god, snap the cord.
Remove my dream.
Let us go in peace.
