For all Poets who celebrate World Poetry Day, each and every day in verse.
|
Still early; so early, in fact, dawn hasn't broken. Silence reigns the night except for the prowling yowl of a cat in the closer distance; stars wink with secret knowledge of poems in the dark; and I sit at the computer, with nocturnal thoughts ... this is a lovely time to write.
Still early, but not as early; the sky takes on light. Silence is slowly replaced by the Earth waking up, to the alarm of a bird's song; the sun nudges the night aside and puts it to bed; poems waiting to be born emerge from my fingers ... this is a lovely time to write.
Late in the day, the work is done; the sky turns to dusk; the silence grudgingly returns to cover the Earth with a blanket of pleasant dreams; the moon stirs lovers and Poets scribbling in the dark with passionate words of the beauty surrounding them ... this is a lovely time to write.

| Lovely poem, yes words and inspiration can flow all day but certain times of the day seem almost magical, except when awoken from slumber by fighting cats yowling, as I was yesterday. They wrecked my yard and there is black and white fur everywhere! |

Karla,
One of my favorite lyracist and song writer's is fellow Savannahian Johnny Mercer. He is gone now but he surely would praise your poem tonight and write an incredible slow tune to enhance your words. I can hear it just as well as I still hum "Moon River". You've done yourself proud my Texas friend.
Love and peace,
Susan |
