This woke me up in the middle of the night. God bless our men and women in uniform...
|
Frozen in place, keyed to march, To defend when ordered. Think In that uniform of starch Fashioned, there could be a chink -----like feelings? A heart, perhaps?? Weary of the game of war, Of hearing the haunted 'Taps' Bugled one more time. Before It tolls for him, he stuffs fear Within his breast, soldiers on----- Strong. Tough. There's no room for tears Or mourning. And, come the dawn, He marches towards his death, Giving his all: His last breath.

It is very sad that this world still finds the need for soldiers; no one should have to put his/her life in jeopardy for reasons of war if we had evolved at all from ancient times. Thank you, Karla. Love and peace,

For God and country is his cry...a vow he made and intends to keep! We are truly blessed to have brave men as these. Where would we be without them? God bless soldiers everywhere who defend the rights of others. An inspired write, Karla. Well Done!

So is the life of the soldier. Most of the soldiers I have known have admitted that they don't wish to die for what they believe but that they have little problem putting themselves in the position that it could happen. They are noble and far stronger than I could ever hope to be. I am humbled by their sacrifices and awed by their commitment. Powerful Poem!
Take care,
Sherry |

| Great sentiments about the troops. When I was on base here the lads use their humour a lot, just to get by. Time to bring the boys home.. |
