Troy Dungan, meteorologist from WFAA (Channel 8) here in Dallas retired after serving the DFW metroplex for 31 years. We'll miss you.

The sun will shine a
little less brightly;
clouds gather on our
horizon; after
thirty one years, a
legend in weather
forecasting retired
Wednesday.  Bow ties can
be loosened to flap
in the breeze; the calm
voice we came to trust
in storm can rest.  Troy
Dungan, we'll miss you,
especially
when the weather's bad:
wasn't so scary
when you explained it ...
God bless and God speed.

Although I don't know who you speak of..this is a lovely tribute.. It is so important the way the weather forecasts are delivered..it can affect us considerably...just like the weather itself. We are lucky to have a weather man locally who takes his job very seriously but has a great sense of humour too...With the Winter weather in U.K....we need the pill sugared sometimes!! Love, Diana.

What a lovely tribute you have created, Miz Karla! Sorry you have lost your favorite weather-reader. Hope his replacement proves to
your liking. Weather has such a profound impact on our lives, doesn't it? If a big storm is in the wings, we need someone who knows how to feed us the news in a way that distracts us from the bitterness. You have to wonder if people like Dungan realize what an impact they have on the lives of their listeners {&/or viewers}. Thank you for reminding me that we owe them a lot of gratitude.
'Been hot and sticky in Tarheel Land; hope-against-hope that it is more comfy down Ft. Worth way.

Troy, if he can read this one, will be most honored, although good old metereolog will be missed...so he missed a few times, not many, when giving a sunny weekend that was wet wet wet.
Happy retirement to him.

Karla---fantastic simple and humble homage to folks we grow to rely upon for weather wisdom. Many weather reporters are highly trained professionals and have an uncanny ability to connect with their audiences. In that scenario, its a rarity to find a scientific professional with a personality to match. Perhaps your audience could nominate Troy to be the new popular Hurricane Director in Florida ?

Myles

It is amazing how television, especailly local television personalities can have such a direct and warm affect on our lifes. We had a weatherman in my youth who whenever weather is mentioned even today 30 years after he went off the air his name is still brought up into the conversation with adoration/

Texas tv, when I was over there I was offered to go on the tv station over there, went out with a newscaster, and had a couple of mates from the sports and news team... Forget her name the blokes were Pablo Hewit, and Steve (Brusolenski)phonetic..

Texas is prolly the only part of America I'd wanna live in, it just has that special something, apart from most miss america's came from there..lol I guess it cos it's so laid back and very friendly, and they loved it if your English.. And could do the two step.

Rambling... Yup amazing how these folk become part of our lives..

Karla,

You need to send this beautiful tribute to Troy Dungan; he was a master of the art of weather forecasting, and somehow, even with all the severe, we didn't feel as scared when he was delivering the weather, keeping us informed as to what was going on. There'll never be another Troy Dungan; he will be missed! Very well done, Karla; enjoyed~!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :D

That is so sweet! Almost childlike. I love it because we all have fears and it's so wonderful when someone can calm them for us.
I hope that he gets to see this poem.
