Calving hurts; how else
to explain the roar
of ice in pain?  We
stand at the railing,
watching it die a
little at a time.
With each section that
falls into the sea,
we celebrate:  shame.
We're the cause of death.

Mahalo my friend Karla---
WOW---Awesome, you are a master of using metaphor to explain and paint the metaphysical.
I sense your deepest feelings in your words.
But then again in the obvious destruction there is renewal
I see it in the flowers in the desert where there hardly exists water but they thrive somehow.

May God give you strength always
and thank you for your giving of yourself.

I join Karen and Mr. Ed to thank you..

Myles ----how does that go ((((Hugs galore?))))

It is not for I that I cry when I look around and see what serious things are going wrong in our planet but when I think of my grand children and great grandchildren to come...I must ask myself..What have we done?

The calving of icebergs is a normal and predictable phenomenon, what is tragic is the sudden and unpredictable increase in the rate of calving.

This s a novel way of looking at it ...

good write

I kinda feel we're too late.
England brought this up decades ago, all peoples knew it to be true,
but to many main players, said it ain't so.
We kinda felt like a country full of Noahs, but this time there is no ark...

FANTASTIC KARLA!!! Another one you ought to submit... somewhere appropriate and high profile. Yes, in times past, icebergs calving was a "happy" time of over-productive birth, perhaps... Now the earth is producing too many premature babies who will not survive and who will drown us in their Waters. Serve us right. Bravo, write on... You and Ed should form our Environmentalists Association. Love Kate xx

Interesting write, Karla, and if it keeps falling into the sea by way of Gobal warming, then unfortunately, the statement, "We're the cause of death", might become a reversal.
