My friend, JZathey, lost her beloved kitty, MicMac, on September 24. Yesterday evening, her beloved Shetland Sheepdog, lay down and went to sleep. Cancer claimed both of them.

'Sometimes, life isn't fair. ..."

Image (c) 2009, Karla Dorman

Sometimes, life isn't fair.
You get attached to a
cat or dog, but just not
any old cat or dog -
they become family.

And it hurts when they go
to their eternal rest:

MicMac, three weeks ago.
Mickey was a chatty
Maine Coon with a lot of
"purr"sonality; he
was a star on You Tube.

Dar, yesterday evening.
Sweet Dar, a deaf Shetland
Sheepdog, the old sage in
a furry body, the
calm when all went awry.

You live in memory
and won't be forgotten.

Your Mommie and all who
loved you, because you loved
us first, will make sure of
that.  Wait for us at the
Rainbow Bridge.  We'll be there ...

(c) 2009, Karla Dorman (10/22)

So many years ago, and yet, I never could force my self to have another dog, I don't need an extra pain in my life with yet another lost.

Karla, your last words....about The Rainbow Bridge...so beautiful. It's so sad when we lose a pet, because they are so very much like family.

Like Amber, I love the idea of that Rainbow Bridge, Karla. Our dearest feathered-and-furry friends sure tug at our heart-strings oft-times during each and every day and we feel their loss dramatically. I grieve for your friend to have to endure this one after the other. I'm sure this heartfelt tribute will give her strength and comfort, framed alongside her loved-ones' portraits somewhere. You have probably hit the nail on the head when you say the reasons why we love so deeply is because "you loved us first". A great lesson for humanity to learn! Bless you, xx
