Don't know where this came from ... and so, I write ...

Image © 2011, Karla Dorman

The sidewalk rushes up to me,
face to face.  We kiss like old
friends --- been too long since

we've seen each other.  So, it
says, how are you?  What's
new in your life?  Nothing, I say,

except for this problem with
my balance.  That's new.  Think
we'll be seeing much more of

each other from now on.  What's
new with you?, I ask.  Not too
much, it says, except the cracks.

Hell getting old.  Well, got to go,
it says, things to do, peope to
catch --- great seeing you, we

will have to do this again, talk
about the good old times ----
and it was gone.  Didn't even

say good-bye.  Get up, dust
myself off, and make my way
into the rest of the afternoon.

Karla, you made an interesting poem from an event most folks do not relish the thought of -- a face down tumble onto the sidewalk -- I guess you are ok since you did not mention any sharp pains or bleeding -- take care and stay alert my dear friend -- too many encounters with the sidewalk will leave you the worse for wear -- I bid you joy, peace, an improved sense of balance and love -- Jon Michael

It is good to look at and try and accept our problems with wit and humor as you have done here Karla, when our body fails us it is such a disabling feeling.
