I used to dream like you, said the tired old man
To race along the waters edge, was so much fun
Where are my castles now, in this land of sand
I fear the sea has taken them, for there are none
I wait for darkness to dance with the summer sky
Joys of my youth have been replaced with leisure
I know the seagulls are secretly planning my demise
They watch me, they wish to disturb my only pleasure
My life is not over yet, there's still time for me to play
I shall fight the coming days of my endless sleep
To question the winds of change, I will do this day
The still burning fire from within is what I seek to keep
I wish to share what I know but, no one wants to ask
The youth take on the world when their thoughts are hollow
To question someone from long ago, seems such a task
Maybe they should, for we left them bread crumbs to follow

There is alway time to try to finish what we once started. Dreams left unfulfilled can be reborn. A most beautiful write!
Be safe,

| This is an excellent poem. The young waste time, and even wish it away but later we really value it. Good work Sean...JDM |
