There's something totally magical about a merry go round. When a child riding the one at Griffith Park was my favorite thing to do. You've captured the felling and excitement perfectly and brought back many wonderful memories.

Interesting the way you transform childhood memories into something more conceptual. There is the physical experience, of course, but the symbolic, universal motion is captured too.
Some very expressive lines:
"on a solo sequence headed nowhere";
"revolving on a locus of amusement,
a fleeting rush of beaming expressions
ride inanimate horses,
alive in flurry of innocent dreams"
and the last line that sums it up so well.

| There is nothing like being on a merry-go-round, Jude, even into adulthood. Some thing if you are on a merry-go-round you are just going around in circles. But look at life. Isn't it like a merry-go-round? You are born and that is like stepping onto the merry-go-round. As you continue to grow, learning as you do, that is like circling around on the merry-go-round, learning more and seeing more as you continue onward, making stops here and there to fulfill your kaleidoscope dreams as the merry-go-round waits for you to come back to it. this circling of life finally runs out of steam and gas and power as the merry-go-round comes to a grinding halt and the breath leaves you. But what you have accomplished, is still on that merry-go-round for all to see ans it continues to turn for others in your wake. Okay. Got a little spacey I guess, just saying . . . |

It is amazing how some things...perhaps sights, sounds, smells etc. can trigger such fond recollections of our childhood or youth. We can for a moment relive those times and the wonder and innocence that somehow our memories captured. Enjoy the ride my friend.

Jude, on the opposite shore to your shore, there is a sleepy beach town, with a Carousel that I used to ride on as a child. It is still operating till this day. The brass ring was the prize, and I was only able to get it once.
I ride the merry go round of life no matter how chaotic or crazy it is..Trust me when I say, I have been there, done that..
Get off or maybe I should say take a ride and take a chance for that brass ring.
Much peace, love, and light,

Ahhhh..Such sweet memories. When I was a child, we had a merry-go-round in Griffith Park and my grandpa would take me there. The calliope would whine as it started to play and the rumble of the motor gears beneath the floor would begin the movement of the platform and 5 minutes of imaginings. I love the nostalgia you bring in this piece, Jude, thank you.
Take care,
Sherry
