                   I mingle with mediocrity

to smell the lure of survival

                                life’s gallows hang quite steep

they have a special sense of elevation

                                            intrusive yet aligned

                     my heart relentlessly beats

between the scent of my rising dreams

and unseen dimensions amid cryptic lore

                       I decompose inside my dreams

to breathe a new sense of direction

brought back to be primed and trimmed

                   where winds howl

                                 along dunes of history,

                       myth and prophecy

I merge within the mysterious cracks and particles

                             breaking within the sands

                    of what may never be

but has a tendency to resurface

several things here, intelligent word choice, flow vs format, and depth, if one is lacking it can rupture the intent, ... nothing lacked here, truly enjoyed this piece, where i'm from the indigenous folk go walkabout for many reason but one being spiritual enlightenment, this felt enlightened.. kudos, luka

To decompose within our dreams is to find our true essence unburdened by earthly realities or non-realities. You make us think Jude.

Some things we don't want to bury too deep, but yet deep enough..great poem Jude!

"Hello, hello, hello... Is there anybody IN there?"... So reminds me of Floyd sentiments and the feelings of blood-let to relieve pain/anxiety/boredom. The brooding gallows image is stupendous and just the detail of its looming angle speaks volumes - so well-observed. Another antennae-out write in which all things are noticed, expected or anticipated whilst yet not knowing what they are. Mingling and merging, decomposing to rise again is all stuff of the daily round of survival and conquest within the relentless Blueprint that forever unfolds. Living where I do, I know so well those feelings of being part of both past and future and holding the tension of both. Past legacies and future inheritance are always bound together in your words and world view, too. Love the way your olfactory sense is working overtime as per u here, Kartero! Sands of time and spirit-lore have a way of revealing all.

the opening is a killer - simply brilliant,
i'm chuckling, smiling and serious all at the same time;
the rest is brilliant, too, with strong air of
confessional and for me more than a hint of sadness
but that may be more my mood than yours

i love this poem

There are so many great lines in this piece but I would be quoting the entire poem. Fantastic images always come to mind.

"A special sense of elevation
Intrusive yet aligned"

Lots of stuff here that effects each of us in one way or another. What is life if not a dream waiting to be dreamed and disected.
Nice offering, Jude.
Take care,

Hey Jude

This has such a mystical feel to it. Like a soul rising out of the ashes

Reborn and hauntingly sad. One could begin to wonder where this poets mind has gone. Somewhere out there in another universe where safe passage is limited to only those who are enlightened. You are one such poet. You never disappoint this reader with the depth to where you are coming from. Next time take a faster ship back I missed you. ( I fixed my typos, darn I-Phones)

Much peace light and love

"life’s gallows hang quite steep" Yup ... straight down. Keep pressing in. Never know - groping through the muck - what kind of a gem will end up in your hand. Good stuff. Enjoyed. peace ...

Yes, you do have that tendency, Jude, and you have done so here. This poem is so full of "quotable" lines one may as well just lift the complete poem for a quote. But I'll go out on a limb and say that the first two lines are kickass lines.

You have touched on a part of all of us,
when one direction does not pan out
basically try and regroup and head another
direction. Even if a "placebo" and surface
again. Many emotions jude and well done
