Twas the night before Monday
And all through the house,
Every creature was stirring,
Except maybe a louse.
The bookbags were flung
On the floor without care
With hopes that Monday morning
Would just disappear.
The children were not all snuggled in bed,
Instead playing Playstation*,
Knowing Mom just can’t care.
And I with my Advil*,
And Mom with her Coors*
Had finally settled in to ignore all the noise.
Then out of the chaos there arose such a cry
I sprang to my bed to ignore the great noise.
The loud errant voice rose higher and higher,
With large stomping feet sounding louder and louder.
When Mom turned down her late-night TV,
I knew in an instant,
That someone was in for an unpleasant surprise!
With a shiver in my bones, I knew what was next-
That someone was stuck massaging Mom’s neck!
I crawled out of my bed to go make my lunch,
Still hoping my name wouldn’t be hollered.
“Now, milk, now bread, now sugar and cheese!
Mind the cookies and lunchmeat and coffee and creamer!
Now dash away, dash away, and be quick at the store!”
I got in my car and turned the ignition
Simply thinking that these are the nights that I wouldn’t mind
Being hundreds of miles from home, safe at college.
And so, Happy Sunday to all, and to all a lazy night.

I would post more works in progress if updates would repost. Typing new stuff right here works well, but because it won't repost naturally I wait so you all can see it complete.
