Atop the stair, as if in prayer.
She doesn't see me standing there.
Her I've loved, for all these years.
Softly sheds her silent tears.
Is it grey clouds that roll across,
That turn a mothers thoughts to loss
She weeps for the baby, that didn't live.
She weeps for the love, she had to give.
She weeps for the ones that called last week.
And the tender words she cannot speak.
That stir the gentle heart of her.
She weeps for the family, we once were
What sorrows love, you'r soul sustain.
Brings to my heart, a sweeter pain.
That grief should bid you cry alone
You'r broken heart becomes my own
Here in the gloom of an attic room..
Upon an autumn afternoon.
So weep you'r private moment dear.
Never knowing I was near.
Nor how you'r tears so deeply touch.
This heart that loves so very much.
The good, the bad, and in between.
And all thge things true love can mean.
Yes, I saw you in an attic room.
Upon an autumn afternoon.
Oh, what of I? to be so blessed.
My love, be not your heart distressed.
For I will hold you closely soon.
Upon an autumn afternoon.

The words are so beautiful, yet tug at all the memories of a first love. I cried when I read it.

Stirring rhythm. Words firing images that raises gooseflesh and makes one's hair stand on end. Superbly crafted.

How carefully you have threaded each word, like a delicate string of pearls. Outstanding work Patrick, thank you.
