I was going through some of my old stuff when I came across this short poem I wrote in 2006. I don't things have changed all that much-dlj

A Little Left of Right
© 2006
Dan Johnson

Coming up before we know it is another boring election.
Below please find a ‘lighthearted’ approach to our 21st century political system.

The elephants rule the house stomping, stuttering and flailing their trunks with authoritative swank and for all their time spent, the end result is the stench they leave is disgustingly rank!

On the other side of the house the donkeys have so little class. When things go wrong; which often they will. These dems have become quite good at heeing and hawing and making boring noise, like that of a useless ass.

Both wave their fingers in utter contempt at each other in hopes of making one back down. But listen to this idea and tell me if it’s true :

When the elephant yells
And the donkey tells
Us all what’s wrong
When they attack
They seem to fade into each other
Like a push me, pull me pair of brothers
And the issues then become a little left of right.

Who pays for this folly when the elephant yells
And the donkey tells us it’s someone else’s wrong?
Both rant, it’s such a horrible sight,
We’re right, they are wrong,
And we pay for their games, while both
Hang just a little left of right.

Awesome!! I say in bio it is up to us not to give in and to come together. WE are the PEOPLE. THEY babysit their bank accounts that we deposit into. No one will do for us, we must do for us, for our children and their children. It's time to fight back thru the children. Teach them the right side of right. It;s all very simple and right there for all to ee, it's L.O.V.E. - I loved this, you have great insight, keep it coming!

It sound like you may be a little right of left or left of right yourself. Too often life is nothing more than a "crust of bread and a corner to sleep in-a minute to smile and an hour to weep in-a pint of joy to a peck of trouble and never to mourn...."
Thank for you comments.

I thought that this excerpt might grab your attention. Stay in touch.

By the way, I am neither "elephin" nor "ass". I abandoned both parties when the local committees charged me qualification fees when I ran for office, then turned around and gave them to my opponents.

I then tried the Reform Party, but the disgruntled Republicans migrated over to it. So I ended up by being independent. Oh forget it. Just keep on writing. You are quite good at it.

to quote George Wallace in the late sixties election of his opponents, "the difference my friend is, tweddle-dum and tweddle- dee" -- your poem eludes to the same facts and impressions of our government politicos -- print it and save it, it will probably always be valid -- thanks for sharing -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

Dan - You hit "the nail on the head" with this by pointing out that what we have is politicians when what we really need is leaders. - David

Yikes, I have no better way of putting it than Sage and Rose, you are right on, but you know it's the same everywhere, except for Adolph of course he stuck it to us real good, so many masochists in this world, I know from whence I speak ha.

A struggle for political dominance using the people for a whipping post, and they're the same ones who write the books with outdated ridiculous anti-sodomy laws when we're all getting it in the ass anyway, but it's okay when they're sticking it to us, Hang just A Little Left of Right, the masochistic side of their political science...you tell it with a trunk of bray, Dan...right on.

Love,
Sage
