Act One
Billowy clouds promised a gorgeous sunset staged on a canvas of blue Bright whites forming silver linings, fingers of yellow shining through I climb to a peak to sit a spell for the brilliance has already begun The skies above, a movie screen, as God, Himself, cries "Action"
There is no need for popcorn or drink as all my senses begin to fill Though I have seen this screenplay many times it never fails to thrill I hold my breath with anticipation as slowly my theater darkens The lights dim and hues deepen resulting in splashes of crimsons
Now every color fills the palette as my eyes dart from side to side Not willing to miss a single inch this production promises to provide Marveling at the magnificence, this story line is tried and true And not very long from now I know, nighttime will make its debut
Realizing I am a mile from the trailhead, I pull myself to my feet Sadly this splendor must take a back seat as I hurriedly start my retreat My descent is slowed as the curtain falls for act one has ended It may not be wise to hike with no moon but my spirits are surely lifted
Even the dusty grays I had trod are now rust and green and gold The mica and granite sparkle, who knew what loveliness dirt holds The grandeur of the Rocky Mountains provide scenes beyond compare And God in his infinite wisdom has found it in His heart to share
