Lonely Road

She walks a lonely road in the night, seeking,
Watching the stars with a wish.
That her love will fly to her on wings of gossamer and steady her plight.
Heavy feet pad along the lonely road, hoping.
She wears the coat of a survivor, she does.
Wanting for her love to be requited not only wished for.
The stars she sees wink and smile at her in the night,
Saying, "Everything will be all right."
Time speeds as distance shrinks,
Her wishing stars continue to wink.

She/he walks alone - seeking, longing and hoping. Survivors most often have the saddest road to walk - the memories keep popping up. She/he at least sees the hope in a brighter tomorrow as the wishing stars wink "everything will be alright." Undertones/overtones of one who has been abused or seen much abuse/tragedy, and still sees good around them.
There is so much to think about in this exceptional poem.

Very touching, almost eerie observation even if the setting is imaginative, I can see it. And for people like her, I feel, and have been one of a kind. You are so good at short (but full) verse!
The pic looks like my driveway up here!
