You voted for me!

So your life is not so good,
As when you voted for what I stood.
You wonder each and every day,
What I stand for any way.

I stand for me and donít represent,
The folks me here with their votes sent.
I stand for those who have the money,
Campaign funds like milk and honey.

To work for my constituents, I was sent.
But the jobís meager salary wonít pay my rent.
I seek my wealth in other places,
Forget you and your nameless faces.

Donít blame me if lifeís not so good,
I donít now stand where I said I would.
Vote me in again and I say to you,
All those things promised I will do.

For now I'll do my partyís mission,
And I will make theirís my decision,
Because first, foremost, and in the end,
I am a politician, and not your friend.

You rival good 'ol Mark Twain in appropos comments for this season - and you did it all in a rhyming verse! Now if we could only get those politicians to rhyme (and remember what they said after elected!)

We have a hope, a dream, a little plan-- an idea, and we hold it out in our hands to be baby-sat by cold-minded, calculating pideafiles, who will rape and torture your darlings till there's no semblance of the virgin hope you held out so trustingly-- Such a shame. Where are all the "Mr. Smith's" who'll go to Washington for us and "do the right thing?"

Even though it's the sad truth, this one makes me smile, Walt. I like it a lot, and love the sarcasm between those lines.
As an 'alien', they don't let me vote..... but I certainly have a strong voice of opinion.
If it's any consolation to you, in Germany it's not any different!
Sending warm Christmas wishes,

Finally, a politician who can speak the truth, bravo.......

It's really too bad that you're speaking to the choir. Thems that should take this to heart are on vacation - permanently! With your permission, I'd like to forward it to those on my email list. Maybe, just maybe, one of "them" might read it and take a good look at their conscience. Thank you.

God bless you. Kathy

Politicians' I say ban them from the land. What do they do, just screw up the world. All a country needs is Bob the president going to work on a tuesday afternoon to collect the mail.
The rest of the country would still carry on, but without being lied to. What do we need over payed actors for? nuffing...

Spoken like a true...politician. LOL They'll say ANYTHING to get voted in, and then their true colors come out: all they care about is their own interests and greed. They forget whom they serve...sad. An excellent write.

How so horribly true. And too bad they're not around to read this; they're already on their Very Long, Holiday Vacation, lappin up some more of that milk and honey at home.
