Years of Steel Reserve Malt Liquor
Months of Brandy Wine
And days of Scottish Whiskey
That led to his decline

All the demons of liquor
But I have not forgot
For I cursed his reckless drinking
Whether he knew it or not

He had the will to stop it
But he chose to be free
Of all who tried to comfort
And beg him to recede

He thought he was always right
And everyone else was wrong
While he poured another drink
And sang the same old song

Why did he not listen Lord?
Were we speaking to ourselves?
Or was it that he did not care
For anyone but himself?

One day he sat behind the wheel
An intoxicated driver
When he crashed his truck of steel
Into a concrete divider

Before they lay him in his grave
Lifeless and alone
The words Alcoholic Anonymous
Were carved on his headstone
